As our Year 13 students step into their final year, we are committed to guiding them through their post-18 options—whether that means applying to university through UCAS, securing a higher or degree apprenticeship, or moving directly into employment.
Our goal is to ensure every student feels fully prepared, confident, and supported at each step of their post-18 journey.
To ensure every application is of the highest quality, all UCAS applications are completed in school under the direct guidance of our Sixth Form team and tutors.
Personal Statement Workshops: Writing a compelling personal statement is a crucial element of the university application. Students draft, refine, and finalize their statements during allocated in-school sessions with dedicated feedback from expert staff.
Thorough Application Checks: Completing applications in school allows us to verify course choices, check entry requirements, and craft strong, tailored academic references.
Attending university open days is one of the best ways for students to explore campuses, speak with lecturers, and decide on their top choices.
Term-Time Visits: The school will authorise up to 2 open day visits during term time as authorised educational visits.
Approval Process: Students must request approval from the Sixth Form team in advance to ensure the absence is correctly recorded.
Weekend Visits: We encourage students to make the most of weekend open days where possible to minimise missed lesson time.
While many of our students pursue higher education, we provide equal support for alternative post-18 destinations:
Degree & Higher Apprenticeships: Guidance on finding vacancies, navigating employer assessment centers, and writing competitive applications.
Employment & Training: Resume build, cover letter workshops, and interview practice with our dedicated Careers Advisor.
