School Vision - ASPIRE

ATTITUDE

We encourage and support students to always give their best, no matter what they are doing.  Students are in control of their own effort and attitude and we expect students to adopt a positive approach to their learning, seeking further information by asking questions. Students are reported on and rewarded for their proactive engagement in lessons and their independence in and outside of the classroom.

SUCCESS

Students need good qualifications to be able to pursue their dreams later in life, we work hard to develop the confidence and independence necessary for them to be able to achieve this. However, it is imperative to us that they are happy and develop as all-round people, so we celebrate their achievements in all areas of their school life, not just in their academic work.

PRIDE

We encourage students to take pride in themselves and have high expectations and standards in everything they do. Students are very proud of our local community and we want them to love coming to school every day. This helps them to build healthy self-esteem and confidence.

INSPIRE

Within the school’s broad and balanced curriculum we aim to foster an enjoyment of learning and to develop skills that ensure they become lifelong learners. Through lessons and our excellent house system, we  provide students opportunities to be inspired, as well as inspiring those around them.

RESILIENCE

This is one of the key qualities that students will need to be happy and successful in life. We create experiences that help students to develop their resilience, both in lessons and through extra-curricular activities such as the Duke Edinburgh award. Our excellent pastoral system provides a supportive and caring environment in which each student is valued and able to reach their full potential.

ENTERPRISE

We want the students to demonstrate and develop their initiative and enterprise. The school provides many opportunities for students to create and participate in community and charity work. The International Baccalaureate Career-Related Programme (IBCP) delivers a package that  enables students to develop a broad range of skills. Universities and employers are impressed by the independent, resilient and outward-looking learners who graduate from our sixth form.

Curriculum intention

At King Ethelbert School we strive tirelessly to provide our students with stimulating and engaging curriculum. In particular, we endeavour to instil in our students;

  • Ambition, so they are ready for the next stage of their education, employment or wider society.
  • To be a responsible citizen and globally diverse.
  • To be inquisitive and have a life-long love of learning.
