Our Houses

At King Ethelbert School we have three houses, each student and staff member are put into a house. The houses are Eagles, Hawks and Falcons. Each house is identified by a colour; green, yellow and red. Students where a tie in that colour. Being in a house means being part of a team and being part of a community, within our school community. House assemblies, organised by their house leader are held fortnightly. Students will have opportunities to have leadership roles within their house, such as house captains, sports captains and well-being ambassadors. These students attend house meetings regularly with their house leaders.

Furthermore, there are a range of house competitions run throughout the year that every student can participate in. Every department within the school, runs a week where they promote their subject and run house competitions, ranging from sports competitions to Maths competitions. At the end of the school year, the house with the most house points wins the house trophy.

However, it is not just all about competitions in the house system, we also work within the school and wider community. Each house will run a community activity during the year and in term six, we have a community week which gets every house involved.

Each house will also be involved with planning and running charity work, this year we are all taking part in Children in Need. Finally, we also run school projects, where by we will come up with ideas of what to do and vote as a school. The students will then plan, design and complete what they have planned to do. We hope that being part of a house team will give the students a wider experience of school life and make them feel part of a community.
