Google Expedition

science 500Last year I was fortunate enough to spend some time at Dane court grammar school with a team of staff from google looking at how to implement technology in the classroom. A new pioneering program called google expedition was mentioned as a future project., I signed KES up and we were fortunate enough to have Stuart from google in with us for the whole day, taking all of our year 7 and year 8 students on virtual reality field trips. Some pupils went inside the human respiratory system, whilst others took a journey from the precambrian era of earth through the paleozoic all the way to late jurassic period and were quite literally walking with dinosaurs. Other students were lucky enough to spend 20 minutes on the other side of the earth at the Angkor Wat temple and some went to the extremities of our solar system, all whilst in the comfort our school hall.
It was an excellent day and thanks must be mentioned to all the staff that helped out. Mr Henderson, Mr Underwood, Miss Harris, Mr O’Hanlon, Mr Payne, Mrs Britnell.
