Last year I was for­tu­nate enough to spend some time at Dane court gram­mar school with a team of staff from google look­ing at how to imple­ment tech­nol­ogy in the class­room. A new pio­neer­ing pro­gram called google expe­di­tion was men­tioned as a future project., I signed KES up and we were for­tu­nate enough to have Stu­art from google in with us for the whole day, tak­ing all of our year 7 and year 8 stu­dents on vir­tual real­ity field trips. Some pupils went inside the human res­pi­ra­tory sys­tem, whilst oth­ers took a jour­ney from the pre­cam­brian era of earth through the pale­o­zoic all the way to late juras­sic period and were quite lit­er­ally walk­ing with dinosaurs. Other stu­dents were lucky enough to spend 20 min­utes on the other side of the earth at the Angkor Wat tem­ple and some went to the extrem­i­ties of our solar sys­tem, all whilst in the com­fort our school hall.
