For the second year running, King Ethelbert School are celebrating extraordinary GCSE results. 62% of their Year 11 students gained five GCSEs at C grade or above including Maths and English (74% of students gained a C or above in English and 67% of students gained a C or above in maths). Last year, the school was the most improved in Kent and the best non selective in Thanet on 54%. This year, the value of vocational subjects has changed and it has been much harder for students to gain five good passes. Therefore, King Ethelbert’s success is even more remarkable given this context.
Students who achieved particular success were:
Georgina Anderson – 2 x A*, 7 x A, 2 x B, 1 x C
Megan Catherall – 4 x A*, 2 x A, 5 x B
Kieran Duckworth – 4 x A, 5 x B, 4 x C
Chanelle Last – 1 x A*, 7 x A, 5 x B,
Emily Last – 3 x A*, 3 x A, 5 x B, 2 x C
Reece Mabberley – 2 x A, 6 x B, 1 x C
Charli Nicholson – 2 x A*, 2 x A, 6 x B, 1 x C
Gregory Nocentini – 2 x A*, 1 x A, 4 x B, 5 x C
Hannah Scott – 2 x A*, 3 x A, 4 x B, 3 x C
Ellyn Seely – 2 x A*, 2 x A, 8 x B
Reece Ward – 3 x A*, 4 x A, 6 x B
Kate Greig, Headteacher said, “we are so proud of our students and what they achieved this summer. We are not surprised by these superb results which have smashed government targets by a long way. Our year 11 students worked incredibly hard and the staff did everything they could to ensure all students reached or exceeded their potential. All our year 11 students have terrific futures ahead of them as they not only have these exceptional examination results, they are also incredibly pleasant, mature, polite human begins – we are so proud of them all.”
These record breaking GCSE examination results come on the back of the superb IBCC Sixth Form results achieved in July.
King Ethelbert is a school that is going places and its academic record is becoming hard to match.
