Years 7, 8 and 9 are grouped accord­ing to abil­ity and fol­low a cur­ricu­lum which includes learn­ing in the fol­low­ing areas:

Key Stage 4

Dur­ing Year 9 stu­dents need to make choices regard­ing the sub­jects they will study for the fol­low­ing two years. The major­ity of stu­dents under­take level 2 courses, whereas some stu­dents will fol­low a bespoke tech­ni­cal path­way com­bin­ing Level 2 & Leve1 courses.

Level 2 and Tech­ni­cal Path­way
All stu­dents must fol­low GCSE courses in the fol­low­ing subjects:

  • Eng­lish
  • Math­e­mat­ics
  • Sci­ence

They must also under­take the fol­low­ing gen­eral courses:

  • Per­sonal, Social and Health Education
  • Phys­i­cal Education
  • Careers Edu­ca­tion and Guidance

Level 2 Path­way Only

The above accred­ited and gen­eral courses form the core of the Key Stage 4 level 2 pro­gramme. In addi­tion each stu­dent must choose 4 courses, at least one of which must be an EBacc GCSE sub­ject and at least one applied/​vocational course from a range of BTECs.
