Cashless Catering
What is cashless catering?
Students can load money onto their card either through the loader machines at school or parents/ carers can pay by credit/debit card online using the school’s ParentPay.com account. When purchasing a meal from the canteen, the student presents their KES Card at the counter, not cash. This cost of the meal will then be debited from the student’s account.
How is money credited to a user account online?
Your child’s account can be credited online using Parentpay.com. For more information please visit www.parentpay.com and click on the “Parents” tab. You will have received logging in details for Parent Pay in the past year. If you need further information or new logging in details please Maureen Igoe or Sue Greenstreet at the school or by e-mail: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ).
We will be offering a special offer until the end of February to launch the opportunity to pay online. If a total of £50 ( this does not have to be all at once) has been added to your child’s account online before February 29th a further £5 will be added. We will be looking at further special offers later in the year.
How is money credited to a user account through the loader machines at KES?
A student presents their KES Card to one of the loader machines in KES. The display will show their name and current balance. The student inserts cash into the coin/notes slots and the money is then automatically credited to their account. Cash can be loaded for the month, the week, the day or anything in between. It is entirely up to you.
What if a student loses their card?
He/she should make every attempt to find it and ensure it is really lost. If it is they should go to Pupil Services. The money held in the student’s account will still be there and will be transferred to the new card when it is printed. Should someone else find and attempt to use the lost card, the system will reject it as a cancelled card. However, this can only happen if Pupil Services have been informed by the student and the card has been cancelled. I am sure you will appreciate how important it is that your child looks after his/her KES cards. The cards will cost £3 to replace. We have given all students lanyards to help them keep the cards safe.
What happens if a student tries to purchase their food and there is no money in the account?
Students are responsible for checking their balance before going to get their lunch. The system will not allow students to go ‘overdrawn’ at the till, so it is important that students check beforehand to make sure they have enough money on their card to purchase the food they would like.
How does this affect students who have free school meals (FSM)?
This new system will be better for students entitled to free school meals. The daily allowance of £2.30 will be added automatically to their KES cards each day, parents do not need to do anything. The student simply has to go to a till and purchase lunch in the same way as other students, nobody else will know! The FSM allowance will not be able to be carried over from one day to the next.
